While we are not directly connected to the organizations listed below, we want to help guide families toward trusted local programs that offer support during difficult times. These resources can help with rent assistance, utility bills, healthcare, senior services, and more. Many programs are available in both English and Spanish.

El Buen Samaritano - Financial and Rental Assistance

The purpose of the Financial and Rental Assistance Program is to provide tenant rental assistance services to those at risk of facing eviction. Our goal is to provide financial assistance with rent, moving, and storage costs to reduce residential displacement of tenants in Austin, preventing individuals and families from experiencing homelessness, and assist households in the case of emergency events (weather, public health, fire, etc)

Lone Star Cares – Health & Wellness Support 

Lone Star Cares is a nonprofit serving Central Texas with free and low-cost health, wellness, and support services for children and families. They offer pediatric care, counseling, health education, and assistance connecting to community resources. Their mission is to ensure every child has access to quality healthcare and a healthy start.

Prosper Health Coverage

Prosper Health Coverage has helped over 60,000 Texans find affordable health insurance and avoid medical debt. This free service is open to all individuals and families in Texas—regardless of income, language, or immigration status. Federally certified Navigators help clients compare Medicaid, CHIP, and Marketplace plans, enroll in coverage, and access doctors, medications, and care.

VELA Families – Parent Advocacy & Support 

VELA is a nonprofit in Austin empowering parents of children with disabilities (ages 0–18) to become their child’s greatest advocate. They offer free, hands-on courses, monthly support groups (in English & Spanish), case management, and workshops—both virtually and in-person. Services are culturally responsive and designed to build community, equity, and self-care for families navigating complex systems.
